- TOPIC -----------------------------------------------------------
-
- I have a Macintosh LC with an Apple IIe Card. My problem is that the Macintosh
- LC doesn't have any composite video-out equivalent to the Apple IIGS and Apple
- IIe systems that I need for projection.
-
- Do you know of any RGB-to-NTSC converters for the Macintosh LC in Apple IIe
- mode?
-
- DISCUSSION ------------------------------------------------------
-
- There is no way to have NTSC-out on a Macintosh LC if an Apple IIe Card is
- installed. RasterOps, Truevision, or the Computer Video RGB-to-NTSC converters
- won't work because they require an RGB signal with NTSC timing. The Macintosh
- LC doesn't have this kind of video port (that is, it doesn't have NTSC sync
- timing rate built into the board).
-
- Here are two workarounds:
-
- • Use an Apple IIe or Apple IIGS as your NTSC projection system.
-
- • Use an LCD overhead projection panel compatible with the Macintosh LC.
- Any panel compatible with the 12-inch monochrome or 13-inch RGB monitor
- will work with the Macintosh LC video port. This solution has the
- advantage of being a Macintosh environment projection device. We are
- unaware of any LCD projection panels compatible with the 12-inch RGB
- monitor.
-
- Another option is using a video card such as the Spectrum/8 LC Card. You have
- used the slot, but now have a video board that supports not only large screen
- monitors, but also supports video-out with the addition of the RasterOps video
- expander or the Computer Video NTSC encoder. It gives you 256-color graphics
- for the Macintosh LC. This still doesn't allow for both the Apple IIe card and
- NTSC video-out.
-
- The Spectrum/8 LC Card supports the following displays:
-
- - SuperMac 19-inch Platinum Display
- - 21-inch Platinum Two Page Display
- - 16-inch Trinitron Display
- - 19-inch Dual-Mode Trinitron Display
- - 19-inch SuperMatch Color Display
- - 21-inch SuperMatch Two Page Color Display
- - Apple 12-inch RGB
- - Apple Color 13-inch
- - Apple Macintosh Portrait Display
- - Apple 21-inch Monochrome
- - RasterOps 19-inch
- - Radius 19-inch (1152 x 882)
